What is BLEND?

BLEND is Blender's own project file, holding every object, material and modifier in a scene. Our reader opens files from Blender 2.4 up to Blender 5, including compressed ones, and applies Mirror and Subdivision modifiers the way Blender does.

Full name

Type
3D scene (meshes, materials)
Used in
Blender
Strength
Lets you share a Blender model with people who do not use Blender.
Limits
Only Blender opens it; modifiers other than Mirror and Subdivision are not applied.

Questions

Do I need Blender installed?

No. We read the .blend file directly in your browser, including files from Blender 4 and 5.

Are materials and textures kept?

Colours and texture coordinates are carried over when DAE supports them. Texture images are kept for formats that can hold them.

Will my model be upside down?

No. BLEND and DAE may use different "up" directions, and we rotate the model so it stands the same way in your software.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser.
