What is glTF?

glTF is the open Khronos standard for delivering 3D content on the web. The .gltf version is human-readable JSON that points to a separate .bin file for geometry and to image files for textures.

Full name
GL Transmission Format 2.0
Type
3D scene (meshes, materials)
Used in
three.js, Babylon.js, Unity (via plugin), Blender, Sketchfab
Strength
Open standard, easy to inspect and edit.
Limits
Comes as several files; use GLB when you need a single file.

Questions

Are materials and textures kept?

Colours and texture coordinates are carried over when glTF supports them. Texture images are kept for formats that can hold them.

Will my model be upside down?

No. STL and glTF may use different "up" directions, and we rotate the model so it stands the same way in your software.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser.
