BREP → 3MF

Convert BREP to 3MF

Turn a BREP CAD model into a 3MF mesh. Curved surfaces are meshed finely enough to stay smooth, and the part keeps its real size and orientation.

How to convert BREP to 3MF

  1. Add your BREP file

Drop it on the converter above or click browse. It opens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

  2. Check the format is 3MF

3MF is already selected. You can switch to any other output from the menu.

  3. Convert and download

Click Convert and your 3MF file is ready in seconds. Download it straight away.

What is BREP?

BREP is the native exact-geometry format of the OpenCascade kernel, used by FreeCAD, CadQuery and many engineering tools built on it.

Full name
OpenCascade boundary representation
Type
Exact CAD geometry
Used in
FreeCAD, CadQuery, Salome, OpenCascade-based tools
Strength
Lossless for OpenCascade-based software.
Limits
Rarely supported outside the OpenCascade family.

What is 3MF?

3MF is the modern 3D printing format from the 3MF Consortium. Unlike STL it records units, colours and multiple objects in one compressed file, and it is the native project format of Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer.

Full name
3D Manufacturing Format
Type
Triangle mesh
Used in
Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura, Windows 3D Viewer, OrcaSlicer
Strength
Keeps units and multiple parts; smaller than STL.
Limits
Not used by CAD or game software.

Good to know

BREP stores exact surfaces; 3MF needs triangles. We mesh each surface with a deviation of 0.05% of the part's size, which keeps holes and fillets smooth for printing and rendering.

Dimensions stay in the units of the original file, usually millimetres.

Questions

Will curves look faceted?

No. Curved faces are meshed with a tight tolerance, so holes and fillets stay smooth.

Does it keep the size of my part?

Yes. The mesh has the same dimensions as the CAD model.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser.
